MY TRAINING
June 1996

I graduated from a 10 week grooming course at Connecticut K-9 in Newington, Connecticut. The course teaches the basics of grooming, including brushouts, bathing & drying. It also teaches you the main haircuts on poodles, terriers & spaniels. Experience is acquired in time. Hands on is the only way to get better.

I’ve been grooming for 4 years and still love what I do. My recommendation to newly graduated students is to try to get a position in a smaller grooming shop where you can go at a slower pace compared to a large kennel. Learn to groom the correct way because bad habits are very hard to break. Don’t hurry - it will take away from your technique & it will show.
